The book came in a few days all wrapped in cellophane. It looks brand new. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Plum Spooky (03 March 2010)Loved the book! As with every Janet Evanovich book, it's well written and a very cute story. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() SORRY, NOT UP TO PAR (11 February 2010)I am usually a huge Janet Evanovich fan, have read almost all of the number books and admire her writing. At times my Silver Sisters Mysteries have been compared to her writing, and I consider that a compiment. That said, and knowing how authors must strive to connect with their readers from personal experience, it is with reluctance I have to say that I did not particularly enjoy Plum Spooky. I listened to the audio book on a road trip, and by the middle of it was wishing I had an alternate audio book to listen to. In fact although I was the only one in the car, occasionally I caught myself saying out loud, "Oh, come on!" I know that this happens with series characters sometimes, but where are the Stephanie, Ranger and Morelli we love? And for that matter, Grandma Mazur and Lula? Only Stephanie's mother seems her normal self, grabbing for the wine bottle to soothe her nerves. I also listened to Plum Lucky, which I didn't find to be as far fetched, but both feature a new man in Stephanie's life...a mysterious semi-scruffy but highly sexy guy who can mystically unlock doors and appear and disappear when he wants to, Plum Spooky has a flock of monkeys including Carl who has almost human attributes, very little of Ranger and Morelli who seem to be okay knowing that Diesel is staying with Stephanie (these two macho guys being okay with that?), lots of "fart" jokes, scenes reminiscent of Dr. Evil with the new bad guys, etc, etc., etc. I'll continue to read the number series, because I really enjoy those books, but two of the Plum in-between the numbers misadventures were enough for me. As I said, I am not happy writing this review, and almost didn't, because I am a huge Evanovich fan but I think I'll pass on future books in this group. So as Diesel and all of the over-the-top action attached to him disappear into the mist of his magical powers, I'll be waiting for the return of Lula, Stephanie, Morelli, Ranger and of course Grandma Mazur in the characterizations I've grown to love. Sorry, but I have to be honest. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't listen to the bad reviews! (03 February 2010)Throughout the Janet Evanovich books, the more that came out, the more bad reviews there were. I read the reviews for this book and waited for the paperback because of some of the bad ones. I worried for no reason. With the exception of Plum Lucky, I have loved all of the books. This one was filled with fun laughs about monkeys and Diesel, of course. Its not like the other books where when Diesel comes into play, Ranger and Morelli leave. In this book you get to see all three of Stephanie's Hunks. The plot is interesting and will keep you guessing. The new characters are very interesting and Wulf gave me the heebie geebies. Bottom Line: Ignore the bad reviews, this book was great! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() julieholtan (01 February 2010)I thought this book was a great, fast read. It had a lot of action and hilarious characters. The characters were my favorite part. I read another book by Janet and did not like it as much. | ![]() |
