| ![]() | Customer Reviews:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() disappointing (24 February 2010)This is probably the worst book of the series. After reading the first 12, I so excited to delve further into Stephanie's crazy life, her mixed feelings for both men in her life and the further development of Ranger's charcter. However 14 was dull, boring and absurd. Joe and Stephanie were bascially living together and we read about Joe cooking, Stephanie changing sheets, and both of them taking turns brining a kid to school ect that it was like reading about MY daily life. Not exactly the reason I read!!! I missed Ranger and thought the whole Brenda; crazy singer turned bounty hunter turned news anchor was too far into the relm of silly to be interesting. I missed reading about Stephanie on stake outs, people breaking into her apartment and Ranger rescuing her from danger....things that do not happen in my daily life!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Evanovitch is going downhill (16 February 2010)I have read all the Stephanie Plum series of books, and I think Janet Evanovitch is selling out. She is trading formerly brilliant content for colorful characters. We all love Lula, but a little goes a long way. I loved the characters she brought in from time to time to help give some contrast to the intense subject matter. Now I don't feel Stephanie as a person anymore. She is simply the straight "man" for Lula and the sex object for Ranger. Morelli is no longer solid and steamy. I guess Evanovitch has run out of ideas. I'm looking to see this series end pretty soon as I, as well as others, will probably stop buying the new editions. So sorry! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fearless Fourteen (06 February 2010)As with all the Stephanie Plum novels, there is an element of predictability..... But for those of us who are addicted to the series this is not a detriment, rather an asset. Each book makes me wish that I wasn't finished--when I am!....and makes me eager for the next installment! Accompanying Stephanie as she grows and develops--how well Janet Evanovich makes this happen--is part of the enjoyment. This book did not disappoint! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lousy customer service (11 January 2010)Bought this for my daughter for Xmas. Unfortunately the autghor has written several new books in the series and I ordered the wrong one. Tried to contact seller thru Amazon to no avail. The seller did contact me asking for the order number which I provided. That is the last I heard. All I wanted to do was exchange this tome for the next in the series but I cannot get the seller to respond. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The belly laughs are back! (09 January 2010)In Fearless Fourteen, Janet Evanovich recaptures her groove and the belly laughs are back. As usual the plot involves Stephanie trying to figure out some mystery while also collecting people who skip on their bond dates to get enough money to live off. This time we are treated to the hilarious description of a 80+ year old man who never wears pants, and a younger woman with a monkey. The main plot line has to do with a ten year old bank robbery and finding the 9 million dollars that disappeared. The main attraction of reading this series is to enjoy the interplay of Stephanie and her cohorts and the wild and wooly characters that surround her. As usual, she is caught a bit between her two paramours, although in this book Morelli is definitely the one with the upper hand. Lula is a constant presence and has her normal moments (can you believe that she and Stepahnie make Tank faint?) and Ranger, Connie, and the crew of the Trenton police department are all there, as are the Cluck-in-a-bucket location, and even Mooner comes back. The sight gags are fast and furious and it was not an unusual event for me to burst out laughing at particular descriptions or events. If you are a Stepanie Plum fan, this book will make it to your shelf in no time. If you have never read the series, then this one will give you a good flavor of what it's all about, although you will definitely want to go back and read the earlier ones to understand what some of the interplay between the characters is about. | ![]() |
